LASIK Laser Surgery

Clear View Laser Center

Freedom From Glasses & Contact Lenses

LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis) is a highly effective, safe surgical procedure designed to correct refractive errors, including nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism. By reshaping the cornea, LASIK allows light entering the eye to focus properly on the retina, restoring clear sight.

At Jyoti Eye Hospital's specialized **Clear View Laser Center**, we utilize the state-of-the-art **Zeiss MEL80 Excimer Laser** system combined with the high-precision Moria microkeratome. This combination allows us to create ultra-thin, smooth corneal flaps and customize the laser ablation profile to your unique optical path.

Advanced LASIK Options

Wavefront Level 8 LASIK

Customized ablation based on three-dimensional wavefront maps of your eye, correcting both sphere/cylinder errors and subtle visual aberrations.

Prolate Level 7 Customization

Preserves the cornea's natural prolate shape. This prevents high-order spherical aberration, reducing glare and halos at night.

Cyclotorsion Iris Tracking

Tracks and compensates for eye rotation when you lie down, ensuring that the laser treatment remains centered on the correct axis.

Lepto-LASIK (Sub-Bowman's)

Creates an ultra-thin corneal flap (approx. 90 microns). This leaves more corneal bed thickness intact, offering a safe option for patients with borderline corneas.

Laser Reshaping of Ocular Refraction

During LASIK, a micro-thin flap is created on the cornea's surface and folded back. An excimer laser then uses cool ultraviolet light beams to vaporize microscopic amounts of tissue from the underlying stroma bed, reshaping the corneal curvature to correct focusing errors.

The Zeiss MEL80 system tracks eye movements 250 times per second, ensuring exact laser centering. The flap is then folded back down, adhering naturally without any stitches, allowing patients to achieve immediate vision recovery.

Are You a Candidate for LASIK?

  • You are at least 18 years old.
  • Your spectacle prescription has been stable for at least one year.
  • Your eyes are free from major diseases (like cataracts, glaucoma, or severe dry eyes).
  • You have adequate corneal thickness (measured during pre-op topography).
  • You are not currently pregnant or breastfeeding.

Common LASIK Questions

Is LASIK painful?

No. Numbing eye drops are applied before the procedure starts. You may feel a mild pressure sensation for a few seconds when the flap is created, but there is no sharp pain.

How long does the surgery take?

The actual laser treatment takes less than one minute per eye. The entire procedure, including preparation and flap creation, takes about 10 to 15 minutes for both eyes.

How fast is visual recovery?

Most patients experience improved vision within 4 to 6 hours. By the next morning, vision is typically clear enough to drive. Complete stabilization takes about 1 to 2 weeks.
